The cruise began with a motor in calm conditions to Portsmouth harbour Gunwharf quays with Atlantis and Legacy in close company. In the morning breakfast was prepared on Legacy whilst motoring to Wootton Creek.

'Atlantis' sailed there after motoring hard against the strong tide that was at the narrow entrance to Portsmouth harbour. After breakfast and a short walk to stretch the legs both yachts returned to the Hamble under sail as the wind had filled in from the North East after a short hail storm.

This wind direction had made the mooring on the pontoons rather uncomfortable which precipitated our departure.It had also made the temperature drop somewhat if to remind us that it was still winter, despite the earlier feeling of spring.
